Oracle is filing a Lawsuit against Google’s Use of Java in Android phones OS
Aug 13th
“In developing Android, Google knowingly, directly and repeatedly infringed Oracle’s Java-related intellectual property. This lawsuit seeks appropriate remedies for their infringement,” said Oracle spokesperson Karen Tillman.”
What this means is that Google may have to pay royalties to Oracle who now owns Sun Computers, the inventors of the JAVA programming language and virtual
run time environment.
This does not really affect Apple directly as they do not use Java. They based the iOS on the MacOSX Cocoa Objective C language which is descended from the NEXT OS.
Apple has completely avoided this problem by building its own hardware and software in order to give users the best runtime experience possible.
